Abstract
745,605. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Dec. 3, 1953 [Dec. 10; 1952], No. 33593/53. Class 6 (3). In a side-delivery rake, of the type having rotatable reels 22, 27 interconnected by oblique rake-bars 30, the reels are not positively-driven but are rotated by the ground-contact of the rake-bars. The reels form part of a pair of sidedelivery units which are mounted on a frame 1, 1A, 3, comprising a central beam 3 with downturned ends on which the outer parts 1, 1A, are rotatably mounted, locking means being provided so that the parts 1, 3, 1A may be secured in alignment for side-delivery, or in H-plan for swath-turning, two swaths 41, 41B then being turned. The frame-sections 1, 1A are mounted on castors 2, 2A, and the central section has a castor 6 on a pivoted outrigger-arm 4 through which the machine is towed by a coupling 5. The reels are floatingly mounted on spring- loaded cranks 19, 25A and may carry peripheral tines 35. The rake-bars 30 have cranked ends pivoted to the reels and these ends may carry relatively long tines 34 sloping oppositely from the tines 35. The tines 33 on the rake-bars 30 are relatively short and also slope oppositely to the tines 35. The reels 22, 27 may be resiliently deformable in a direction perpendicular to their planes of rotation.
