Abstract
873,339. Haymaking machines. BAMFORDS Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No. 38923/58. Class 6(3). In a side-delivery rake of the type having a wheeled frame 10, 11 a part 10 of which extends obliquely to the line of travel and carries a row of rake-wheels 14, the frame is flat and of inverted-V form in plan and is mounted on two ground-wheels 26 which are arranged so that the vertical planes through their axes lie between the ends of the rake-wheel row, one of the rake-wheels being mounted on an outrigger 23 attached to the limb 10 of the frame which carries the rake wheels and the other being mounted on the end of the other limb 11; the arrangement is such that the rake is restrained from sideways movement caused by ground-reaction on the rake-wheels. In the form shown, the device is freely pivoted to a tractor by a drawbar 27 and the restraint is imposed by the ground-wheels which rotate upon fixed stub-axles 25. In a modification (not shown), the ground-wheels are swivelly mounted and the restraint is imposed by a rigid connection to the tractor. The rakewheels are mounted on counterweighted cranks 17.
