829,762. Inspecting hosiery. ALAMANCE INDUSTRIES Inc. Sept. 20, 1956 [July 19, 1956], No. 28738/56. Class 42 (2). A machine for inspecting full-fashioned hosiery comprises a form 11 on which the stockings are inspected, a device 45 for severing stitching connecting adjacent stockings and a mechanism operated by rotation of the form to bring the device 45 into and out of severing engagement with the stitching. The device is connected by an arm 46 to a shaft 35 oscillated by a spring-loaded linkage 31, 34 and a lever 22 pivoted at 24 by a cam 20 secured to the form by set screws 21. Clippers or a blade may be used as the severing device, but an electrically heated element 50, which seals the nylon thread, is preferred. The element is mounted in an insulated guard 51. The stocking awaiting inspection is held in a tubular guide 17 by a pivoted U-shaped weight 19. Specification 829,761 is referred to.
