Abstract
1,012,111. Knitting machines. SOLIS S. a. r. 1. Jan 30, 1963 [Jan 31, 1962], No. 3880/63. Heading D1C. A yarn cutting device for a circular hosiery knitting machine comprises a pair of blades 14, 15 inserted from above between the welt dial plate 9 carrying the welt hooks 10 and the annular arrangement of needles 3 on the rotary cylinder 1. The blade 14 is held on a support 13 while the blade 15 is reciprocated at high frequency by a toothed cam 29 rotated with the plate 9 and acting through a follower lever 27, rod 25 and lever 21. A spring 35 normally keeps the follower in contact with the cam but it can be raised and the shear blades moved to a higher inoperative position by raising the pivot 28 of lever 27 by a crank arm 30 actuated by a lever 33 which lifts lever 27 against a stop 34 to depress lever 21 and raise blade 15 and hence blade 14 through a pin and slot connection 19, 20. In a modified arrangement the shear blades are connected to a parallelogram linkage two of the pivots of which can be adjusted by a cam to move the blades to different operative and an inoperative position.
