This invention relates to hosiery'inspectiondevices, and more especially to a device of: thissort particularly adapted for use in the inspec-etion-of full fashioned hosiery.
In the manufacture of hosiery, particularly full fashioned hosiery; one of the most troublesome difiiculties is the problem of avoiding pull: threads during theknitt-ing operationand subsequent handling of the knitted. stockings. Pull; threads isthe'termcommonly used: to describe the defect which results in the. stocking structurewhen one of the threads is kinked or drawn out of place;
This defect is often causedinprocess of inespecting thestockings because thestockings; be.--- ing formed inside out, areturned orsreversed for: inspection and the attrition onthe body! of the. stocking asit is reversed is a.like1y-sourceofpulh threads. This is particularly true of-full= fashioned hosiery which are formed'with a seam that.- can exert a rather severerubbing action ore-thev body of the stocking during reversal.

By this arrangement the turned portion of the stocking is spaced at alltimes from the unturned portion thereof so thatall attrition; between the stocking portions is eliminated during reversal, and rubbing of the body of the stocking by'the seam in particular is avoided.
The present inventiono is described more in-detail below in connection withthe. accompanying drawing in which:

Heretofore it has been necessary, with the round nose inspection forms commonly in use, for the inspector to shift position for inspection of the looper line, or to provide mirrors for viewing a reflection of the looper line from the inspection position, both of which expedients are not only more troublesome but also considerably less eificient than the easy direct viewing of the looper line made possible by the form of reversing nose l8 of the present invention.

The hosier inspection device of the present invention is accordingly adapted for inspection of hosiery in the usual manner, but provides for handling the hosiery during inspection so that the tendency to induce pull threads is avoided while still allowing the operation to be carried out easily and eificiently.
In "the usual case, the device is preferably arranged so that the inspection form I2 is disposed horizontally as illustrated in the drawing,
,but it may also be used advantageously-in other positions where it is desired to combine ot-her' operations, such as mending, with the inspection operation.
r I claim:
1. A hosiery inspection device comprising an inspection form of the type incorporating a reversing nose, said form having a channel-shaped body proportioned for receiving and supporting interiorly a stocking extended to full length, and formed with a web portion extending between the' top edges of said body adjacent the nose thereof but spaced from said nose and thereby defining an opening through which a stocking extended interiorly in said channel-shaped body may be drawn for reversal over said nose and extended exteriorly on said body for inspection. 2. A hosiery inspection devic'e comprising an inspection form adapted: to be supported at one endand arranged with a reversing nose at'its other'free end,'said inspection form having a channel-shaped body proportioned for receiving and supporting interiorly a stocking extended 7 to full length and being formed with a web portion extending between the top edges of said body adjacent said nose but spaced therefrom and thereby defining an opening through which a stocking extended interiorly in said channelshaped body may be drawn for reversal over said nose and extended exteriorly on saidbody for shaped body proportioned for receiving and supporting interiorly a stocking extended to full length and being formed with a web portion extending between the top edges of said body adjacent said nose but spaced therefrom and thereby defining an opening through which a stocking extended interiorly in said channel-shaped body ma be drawn welt first for reversal over said nose and extended exteriorly on said body for inspection with the body of said stocking spaced at all times to avoid rubbing by the seam thereof.
4. A hosiery. inspection device particularly adapted for avoiding pull threads in the inspectionof full fashioned hosiery, comprising an inspection form supported'horizontally at one end and arranged with a reversing nose at its other free end, said inspection form having a channelshaped body proportioned for receiving and supporting interiorly a stocking extended to full length with the Walt thereof disposed adjacent said n se, and said inspection form being further formed with a web portion extending be-' tween the top edges of said channel-shaped body adjacent said nose but spaced therefrom and thereby defining an opening through which a stocking extended interiorly in said 7 channelshaped body may be drawn welt first for reversal being formed with a reversing nose at its other free end, said body being'further formed with a'web portion extending between its channeledges adjacent said reversing nose but spaced from said nose and thereby defining an opening through which a stocking ext ended interiorly in said, chanel-shaped body may be drawn for re-' v'ersal. over said nose. and extended exteriorly onsaid bodyforinspection, and said reversing nose being formed in the nature of an extending lip at the free endof said body whereby the looper line in the toe of a stocking extended over said body for inspection may be disposed across a face of said nose for directviewing in normal 7 7 inspection position beside said form.
