Abstract
A process for the flash evaporation of framing liquids, liquid mixtures or solutions, comprises introducing the mixture or solution to be evaporated tangentially into a flash vessel at such a rate that the wall of the flash vessel is entirely or almost entirely moistened. In an example, a mixture of 15% of sodium alkyl sulphate, 15% of isopropyl alcohol, 15% of a low boiling gasoline and 55% of water was evaporated by introducing the mixture tangentially into a cylindrical flash vessel, the lower part of which tapered inwardly to form a truncated cone so that the walls of the flash vessel were entirely moistened, an evaporation rate of 11,000 kgs. per hour was obtained.
