Abstract
Copper powder of low apparent density is obtained by atomisation with an aqueous liquid such a water of molten copper containing up to 1.2 per cent by weight of one or more of magnesium, calcium, lithium, zirconium or titanium. The copper preferably contains at least 0.2 per cent of magnesium or lithium, or at least 0.5 per cent of calcium, zirconium or titanium. Examples using the atomization apparatus described in Specification 553,672 state that the powder may contain up to 0.32 per cent of oxygen.
