Abstract
In a continuous process for the production of salts of cyclohexylsulphamic acid by hydrolysis of a reaction mixture containing cyclohexyl-ammonium - N - cyclohexylsulphamate, cyclo-hexylamine and water and using at least a stoichiometric amount of sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide, the reaction mixture and the metal hydroxide is passed downwardly through a packed column, steam is passed upwardly through the column and cyclohexylamine is removed in the distillate from the column. The term "stoichiometric amount" includes sufficient metal hydroxide to hydrolyse any cyclo-hexylamine sulphate present in the reaction mixture. An apparatus for carrying out the process is described with reference to the drawing (not shown).
