Abstract

1,207,238. Sodium bicarbonate. CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK G.m.b.H. 25 July, 1968 [29 Aug., 1967], No. 35604/68. Heading C1A. Sodium bicarbonate is produced by reacting sodium hydroxide solution, produced by electrolysis of NaCl as over 40% by weight NaOH, and after dilution as indicated below, with CO 2 or a gas containing CO 2 to give sodium bicarbonate, which is filtered off, the mother liquor remaining after removal of the bicarbonate being recycled, at least in part, and added to the NaOH starting solution so that the NaOH solution which is carbonated has an NaOH content of 8-15% by weight.
