Abstract
828,387. Operating the doors of skips in shafts. WRIGHT BOAG & HEAD WRIGHTSON (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Dec. 9, 1957 [Dec. 8, 1956], No. 38206/57. Class 78 (4). Guide formations 15, 14 control the opening and closing of the hinged bottom door 9 of a skip 6 swung for unloading about a pivot 7 on a bridle 4 by which it is carried from guides 5 in a hoist in a shaft. In the construction illustrated the skip is swung to the unloading position shown by fixed guides 3 engaging rollers 8 on the skip. As the skip swings rollers 11 on the door 9 are drawn clear of supports 13 on the bridle 4 so that the door is subsequently held by engagement of rollers 12 with guides 15. After the skip has risen sufficiently for the door to open to the position illustrated, the rollers 11 engage a further guide 14 to prevent the roller 12 swinging through the gap between the guide 15 and a further guide 16. The door 19 is normally held in its closed position by a latch 15a opened against the bias of gravity or a spring by a guide 18. The guide 3 for swinging the skip may be carried on the skip to engage a fixed roller.
