Classes 44 and 65(1) A door a is retained in both its open and its closed positions by means comprising a stay c pivotally connected at one end to the door and having one edge slidable on a roller d mounted on the door seating, the edge i of the stop having a shoulder f engagable with the roller when the door is closed, and the free end of the stay having an abutment g engaging a stop h mounted on the door frame when the door is in an open position. A spring e attached to the stay maintains the edge i in contact with the roller and also serves to counteract the weight of the door and to hold it in its closed position. To avoid slamming of the door the edge i is inclined so as to increase the closing effort required when the door approaches its closed position.
