Abstract
825,839. Operating doors of skips in shafts. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Nov. 17, 1955 [Nov. 25, 1954], No. 32913/55. Class 78 (4). A driving member 17, Fig. 7, moved along a straight vertical path to open the sliding gate 2 of a skip to a skip hoist also has a movement at right angles to the vertical path into and out of position to engage the gate, which latter movement is derived from the vertical movement. The member 17 shown in Fig. 7 is pivoted about an axle 19 to a carriage guided by wheels 20 in guides 21. Normally the driving member 17 hangs in the retracted position shown in broken lines towards the bottom of Fig. 7 but as the gate 2 rises a lug 4 on it engages a member 18 also carried by the spindle 19 and guided by rollers 22 in the tracks 21 so that the carriage is raised. As the carriage rises a guide 23 engages a roller 24 on the member 17 to move it into engagement with the lug 4 so that when the skip has stopped, and a ram (not shown) raises the carriage further, the door 2 of the skip is slid open. The member 18 subsequently provides a positive drive to close the gate 2. Should the skip be over-wound the rollers 22 escape at 21<SP>1</SP> from the guides 21 to retract the member 18 out of engagement with the lug 4 as shown in broken lines towards the top of Fig. 7. The connection between the carriage and its operating ram preferably includes lost motion. In the alternative construction of Fig. 2 a carriage 7 raised by a ram (not shown) carries a pair of sectors 5, 6 pivoted at 8, 9 and controlled by rollers 15 engaging in guides 14, 13 so that the sectors are swung ouwardly to engage a lug 4 on the sliding gate 2 of the skip as the carriage 7 is raised. When the carriage 7 is again lowered to close the gate 2 the sector 5 is retracted by the roller 15 engaging the track 14 while the sector 6 is retracted by engagement of a further roller 6<SP>11</SP> on it with a cam track 16 on the gate 2.
