Abstract

1470775 Operating doors DEWHURST & PARTNER Ltd 22 July 1974 [25 July 1973] 35482/73 Heading E2M In a lift door operating mechanism a sliding door 10 is operated by rotary driving means 1 comprising an electric motor 2 connected to a wheel 3 which drives another wheel 4 and a cranking mechanism 6, 7 is connected with the driving means 1 and the lift door for movement in response to operation of the rotary driving means to provide translational sliding movement to open and close the lift door 10. The cranking mechanism 6, 7 is arranged so as to be at a dead-centre position with the lift door in the closed position (full lines) to lock the door and the mechanism 6, 7 is provided with a counterweight 15 arranged to oppose movement of the cranking mechanism away from the dead-centre position (dotted lines) The free end of a radius arm 6 of the cranking mechanism is slidingly connected by a roller 8 operating in a slot in a vertical rail 9 secured to the sliding door 10 such that the dead-centre position occurs with the radius arm 6 in the longitudinal position. A linkage 33 connected to the cranking mechanism and to a coupler mechanism 32 enables the free movement of the lift car between floors. An alternative embodiment is disclosed in the specification (Fig. 2, not shown) in which a double mechanism is described for the operation of two sliding lift car doors.
