Abstract

1451727 Window regulating mechanism FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 27 Sept 1974 [17 Oct 1973] 41999/74 Addition to 1336540 Heading E2M In a vehicle window regulating mechanism coupled to a vehicle window panel 11 that is divided vertically into independently movable, substantially co-planar, visibility (14) and ventilating (13) sections, a gear sector 19 is pivotally mounted on a first pivot shaft carried by a mounting plate 16 fastened to the inside of a vehicle door and a first regulator arm 23 is freely swingable intermediate its ends on a second pivot shaft 22 journalled in the mounting plate 16 and is coupled at 26 to the ventilating section 13. A second regulator arm 24 is fixedly coupled to the second pivot shaft 22 for swinging movement as the second shaft rotates in the mounting plate and the other end of the second regulator arm 24 is coupled to the visibility section 14. As a drive pinion 18 is rotated in an anticlockwise direction the gear sector 19 moves in a clockwise direction, as viewed in Figure 1, such that the action of a first (29) and a second (34) cam follower mounted on the gear sector 19 operating in cam slots 28 and 36 in the arms 23 and 24 respectively enables the ventilation section 13 to be first lowered to a predetermined position before the visibility section 14 starts to open or move downwardly. Upon rotation of the gear sector in the window closing direction, the visibility section 14 reaches a fully raised position before the ventilation section 13 starts to rise. The window may be operated electrically by motor means (not shown).
