1419757 Vehicle window regulator FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 18 Feb 1974 [7 March 1973] 7237/74 Heading E2M A vehicle window regulating mechanism acts on a window panel to fully lower a ventilation section 15 before lowering a visibility section 16, and to fully raise the visibility section before raising the ventilation section, the mechanism comprising a mounting plate 17 secured to a body panel, a gear sector 19 rotatably mounted on a pivot shaft 21 journalled in the mounting plate, a first regulator arm 23 coupled to the mounting plate and to the visibility section, a second regulator arm 43 coupled to the first arm 23 and the ventilation section, drive means 52, 54 coupling the gear sector 19 to the second arm 43 and a cam follower 51 coupled to the second arm 43 and engageable with a cam slot 56 to control the sequence of movement of the first and second arms. In operation the gear sector 19 is rotated about pivot shaft 21 in a clockwise direction by a crank assembly 22 and results in a downward movement of the end of drive arm 52 connected to drive link 54. The ventilation section regulator arm 43 is thus swung downwardly about its pivotal connection to the regulator arm 23, the latter having no downward movement due to the cam follower 51 moving only the arcuate section 59 of the cam slot about its pivot centre 34. When the ventilation section 15 reaches its lowermost position, the follower 51 reaches the end of arcuate section 59 adjacent the vertical section 61. As the drive arm 52 continues to pull down on drive link 54, the fulcrum point for the arm 43 shifts from the pivot shaft 34 to roller 46. The follower 51 moves down the cam section 61 and the pivot shaft 34 moves downwardly carrying the arm 23 in a downward direction about pivot shaft 21. Stabilizer arms 35, 36 swing about the shaft 34 as the visibility section is driven downwardly by the arm 23. As the arm 23 swings it winds up a counter balance spring 25 which upon reversal of direction of the arm assists in raising the visibility section. From a lowered position, the sequence of movements is reversed upon the gear sector 19 being rotated in the opposite direction.
