Abstract

607,257. Elevated railways; doors. KING, Ltd., G. W., and KING, H. W. M. Jan. 29, 1946, No. 2912. [Class 104 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A sliding door, e.g. for trolley-bus garages with an interrupted guide track to allow the passage of power wires 13 and trolley arms, has at each gap a guide track section which is positively moved to bridge or open the track by the closing or opening movements of the door. At predetermined points in the path of the door, stationary cams are provided to engage abutments carried by the leading section of the door. Each door comprises a number of hinged sections 10, Fig. 3, carrying vertical guide rollers 14 engaging an inverted U-shaped track 11 which carries rollers 16 supporting the movable tracks 15. Each abutment 17 consists of a spring-pressed plunger 19 on a rod 22 carrying a U-shaped frame 24 with rollers 25 which co-operate with cams 26 ... 29, Fig. 8. In the opening movement, cam 29 depresses the abutment to allow it to enter within the track 15 until opposite the gap 30 when cam 28 allows the abutment to rise and enter gap 30, at the same time raising spring detent 31. Further movement of the door causes the track 15 to move with it until cam 27 is reached, which cam lowers the abutment and allows fixed stop 35 to halt the track, the abutment being finally released by cam 26. Track 15 may have wedges 33, Fig. 10, to facilitate its entry into track 11, while dome-shaped studs 32 bear against track 11 to guide track 15.
