Abstract

A stable aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide having a pH of 3-8 is produced by at least partially neutralizing an aqueous solution of an organic polymeric acid colloid and adding hydrogen peroxide thereto. Acid colloids specified are alginic acid, carboxypolymethylene compounds, partially hydrolysed polyacrylates and polymethacrylates, polyacrylic and polymethacrylic acid, and the copolymer of methylmethacrylate and methacrylic acid. Neutralization may be effected by alkali metal hydroxide, ammonia, or an amine. The products may contain 0.1-10% of hydrogen peroxide and 0.5-5.0% of colloid salt. Another stabilizer may be present, e.g. phenacetin or a salt of ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid. An example is given.ALSO:A stable aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide having a pH of 3-8 for bleaching hair is produced by at least partially neutralizing an aqueous solution of an organic polymeric acid colloid and adding hydrogen peroxide thereto.
