Abstract

An adhesive composition comprises a mixture containing between 20 and 80 per cent of polychloroprene latex and a latex of a copolymer of butadiene with styrene in a proportion which varies concomitantly between 80 and 20 per cent. Thickening agents such as a solution of agar-agar, ammonium alginate, sodium alginate, gum tragacanth, gum arabic or karaya gum and stabilizing agents such as salts of mono esters of the higher fatty alcohols, especially the sodium salts of mono esters of lauryl and myristyl alcohols, and other substances such as ammonia, sodium silicate, formaldehyde and lavender oil may be added.ALSO:An adhesive composition comprises a mixture containing between 20 and 80 per cent. of polychloroprene latex, and a latex of a copolymer of butadiene with styrene in a proportion which varies concomitantly between 80 and 20 per cent. Thickening agents such as a solution of agar-agar, ammonium alginate, sodium alginate, gum tragacanth, gum arabic or karaya gum, and stabilising agents such as salts of mono esters of the higher fatty alcohols especially the sodium salts of mono esters of lauryl and myristyl alcohols may be added. The pH should be kept on the alkaline side by ammonia or sodium silicate and anti-bacterial agents such as formaldehyde and scents such as lavender oil may be added.
