Abstract

827,134. Two-part couplings; lamp-holders. CHANABON, E. April 17, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 12224/58. Class 38 (1). A cable 10 is gripped in a neck 5 on the cap 2 of a resilient, two-part plug or socket body by a cord grip consisting of a non-deformable Banged sleeve 3 fitted in the neck and having a tapered, threaded bore into which is screwed a resilient bush 4 surrounding the cable. The bush has an extension 11 which, before assembly in the sleeve 3, as shown in Fig. 2, terminates in a hole 12 smaller than the main bore 9 thereof. After screwing the bush into the sleeve until it grips the cable, the latter is pulled outwardly of the connector body until the extension 11 folds back on itself inwards forming a locking wedge as shown. The sleeve 3 may be dispensed with where the cap 2 is made of non-deformable material, the neck in this case having the tapered, threaded bore formed therein (Fig. 6, not shown).
