Abstract

Viscose rayon filaments are treated successively with aqueous acid solutions of, firstly, an alkali metal permanganate and secondly, hydrogen peroxide, the acid being sulphuric, phosphoric or acetic acid. The treatment may be continuous with the production of the filament, or filaments in hank or other form may be treated. The successive treatments may be repeated. Either solution may contain a surface-active agent. Specification 620,440, [Group IV (a)], is referred to.ALSO:Viscose rayon filaments are treated successively with acid aqueous solutions of, firstly, an alkali metal permanganate and secondly, hydrogen peroxide, the acid being sulphuric, phosphoric or acetic acid. The treatment, which may be repeated one or more times, may be continuous with the spinning of the filaments. Either solution may contain a surface active agent. Specification 620,440 is referred to.
