Abstract
823,368. Walls; slabs. GILBERT-ASH Ltd Feb. 20, 1956 [Nov. 19, 1954], No. 33598/54. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A pre-cast concrete cladding slab 2, is secured to a column 1 of similar material, by means of tapered pins 8 which enter aligned apertures in members 1, 2 after grout has been placed therein. The column has flanges 3, 4 to co-operate with an offset flange 5 on the abutting slab 2. The pins 8 may be of wood, metal or concrete and in the latter case may have an axial reinforcing wire or rod. The vertical or horizontal edges of adjoining slabs may be secured together by similar pins. According to the Provisional Specification the slabs may have peripheral holes through which high tensile wires pass in two perpendicular directions, the wires being tensioned and anchored at their ends. Alternatively lightweight cladding slabs are used with independent diagonal bracing members fixed to the columns by bolts or other means. Specification 744,756 is referred to.
