Abstract

819,990. Cutting vegetation. LILLISTON IMPLEMENT CO. Dec. 19, 1957, No. 39451/57. Class 6(3). A vegetation-cutter comprises a wheeled support 11, 12, 25 carrying forward and rear vertical shafts, the rear shaft being adjustable longitudinally, outer vertical shafts 67, 67<SP>1</SP> being spaced transversely on opposite sides of the forward and rear shafts and carrying blades 70 at their lower ends, the forward shaft being driven from the power take-off of a tractor and having belts 45, 45<SP>1</SP> which engage pulleys 64, 68, 68<SP>1</SP> on the rear shaft and each of the outer shafts separately. As shown in Fig. 3, the rear shaft also carries a blade 70 at its lower end. The wheels 29, 29<SP>1</SP> are mounted on cranks 28, 28<SP>1</SP> secured to the ends of a torsion-bar 27, upward movement of the cranks being resisted by springs 49, 49<SP>1</SP>. Adjustment of the wheels is effected by a handle operating a screwed rod 53. The rear shaft is mounted in guides and is adjustable by a screwed rod 61. A screw-jack, Fig. 4 (not shown) may support the front of the machine when detached from the tractor.
