498,482. Mowing-machines. RICHARDSON, W. July 9, 1937, No. 19067. [Class 6 (iii)] A mowing-machine of the type in which a band cutter C extends over pullies, drums or the like D, D<1> and is driven by a power unit P has the pullies or the like carried on a transverse tubular frame T mounted on rear wheels W, W<1> and at one or both sides on front swivelling wheels W<2>. The band cutter may be formed in one piece or in a series of connected links and may have its cutting edge serrated ; means may be provided for adjusting its tension. A sharpening device S for the cutter may be carried by the frame. The bearings for the pullies D, D<1> may be vertically and horizontally adjustable and the bracket carrying the wheel W<2> may be rocked by a lever actuated toothed quadrant to lift the frame and the band pullies. The pulley D<1> may be provided with a guard W<4>. The machine may be drawn by a tractor or horses.
