Abstract

405,015. Mowing - machines. LAWRENCE, J. P., and LLOYDS & CO., LETCHWORTH, Ltd., Pennsylvania Works, Letchworth, Hertfordshire. July 27, 1932, No. 21242. [Class 6 (iii).] A mowing machine of the manually propelled type provided with a reciprocating knife bar actuated by a power unit carried upon the frame 2, 3, of the machine which is supported solely or principally upon a centrally disposed supporting wheel 1 has its cutting mechanism 6 extending substantially an equal distance on either side of the general plane of the supporting wheel. The knife bar is driven from a crank on a counter shaft 9 connected by a belt 12 with a pulley 13 on the shaft of a small petrol engine 7 which is mounted at the forward end of the frame members 2, 3. Vertically adjustable handles 14 are pivotally secured to the frame members and project rearwardly being also connected intermediately to the frame through a cushioning member. Auxiliary supporting wheels 19 which may bo vertically adjustable may be fitted. The power unit may be arranged behind instead of in front of the supporting wheel 1.
