Abstract

1434903 Lawn mower QUALCAST (LAWNMOWERS) Ltd 3 Aug 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 35852/72 Heading A1F A lawn mower consists of a frame 10, a rear roller 11, front wheels or roller 12, serrated cutting blades 16 and 17 in mutual contact and of which blade 17 is fixed to frame 10 while blade 16 is constrained by guide slots 19 in blade 16 and pins 18 integral with blade 17 to oscillate laterally across blade 17. A motor 13 drives, via a toothed belt 21, a cam faced wheel 20 which engages between two vertical pins 25 integral with the blade 16 causing, when driven, the lateral oscillations of blade 16. The wheel 20 is splined to shaft 30 mounted in suitable bearings (not shown) as are brushes 31 which sweep debris from the top of, blade 16 along a deflector plate 15 and into a forward mounted box (not shown). The motor 13 may additionally drive the rear roller or may be omitted altogether in which case the belt drive for wheel 20 is taken directly from the rear roller 11.
