Abstract

819,601. Beams. NEMAHO N. V. Jan. 23, 1957 [Nov. 20, 1956], No. 2500/57. Class 20(4) Longitudinal saw cuts 8 are provided in the end faces of beams a, b which are to be connected, one containing a hooked or perforated connecting plate 9 engaging in and supported by a member 14 extending across the other beam. The plate 9 is fixed in the end beam b by rivets 10 and has at its base a laterally bent part 11 on which the beam bears. The member 14 is a bolt which traverses the saw cut 8 in beam end a and has clamping washers 16 under the head and nut. The plate 9 is cut away at 12 to form a hook which engages over the bolt 14 in the saw cut, the neck 13 of the hook being smaller than the distance from the bolt 14 to the upper edge of beam a so that rivets 15 can be driven across the top of plate 9 to prevent disengagement of the hooked part. Alternatively to the hook provided, the plate 9 may be bored to accommodate the bolt 14.
