Abstract

1,105,321. Spiked plates. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORPORATION. 16 Sept., 1964 [18 Sept., 1963], No. 36835/63. Heading F2H. A member, e.g. of wood &c. is fixed to the surface of hard material such as concrete, by impaling it on at least one spike 6 extending from a plate 3 which has first been secured to the surface by a pin driven by a hammer or cartridge-operated tool; finally, the spike points 7 are clinched over. There may be a hole through the plate 3 (to receive the pin) and a flange at one edge for location by a part of the tool, the flange being broken off after securement of the plate. A disc-washer (12), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be applied over the plate base 4 before the pin is driven through. The spikes 6 may be punched entirely from the material within the plate base 4, Figs. 1-3 (not shown), instead of from the edge as shown.
