817,236. Pulverulent materials, facilitating mixing of, by gas currents. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE BLAW-KNOX, S.A. May 17, 1957 [Feb. 21, 1957], No. 15793/57 Class 86 Apparatus for mixing pulverulent materials by gas currents comprises a tank 1 divided into a charging and mixing compartment 2a and a discharging compartment 2b having an upper outlet 5, by a partition 3, having an adjustable slide 4 in order that the compartments are interconnected at their lower ends, a perforate or porous bottom 8 for the tank, and chambers 6, 7 for the compartments 2a, 2b respectively, separated by a partition 11 and supplied with compressed air through inlets 9 and 10 respectively. The outlet 5 may be above or below the free level of the materials in the compartment 2a, according to the pressures of air supplied to the compartments. In a modification, the chamber below the compartment 2a may be divided into a plurality of chambers each having a separate air inlet which may be selectively adjusted to increase turbulence of the materials. If desired several tanks each as described above may be connected in cascade, the tanks in this case being tilted. In a further modification, two tank units as described above are incorporated in a single elongated tank, the discharge compartment of the first tank unit having a conduit extending upwardly from its top and discharging into the charging compartment of the second tank unit.
