Class 43 [Also in Group XXV] Relates to fastenings of the kind including a lever 3 pivotally mounted on or between a pair of sheet metal side ears or bracket parts 4 projecting from a carrier plate or back plate 1, the pivotal connection being made by means of trunnion projections 6 on the one part engaging apertures or sockets 7 on the other part. According to the invention the lever 3 lies between the side ears or bracket parts 4 to which it is pivoted and is provided with external parts 8 which overlap the outside faces of the side ears or bracket parts 4 so that the latter are confined between the main part of the lever which lies between them and the external overlapping parts 8 of the lever. As shown, the invention is applied to a trouser braces clip, in which the lever 3 closes a front resilient jaw member (not shown) against or towards an inturned gripping jaw (not shown) at the lower end of the back-plate 1. In a modification Fig. 7 (not shown) the overlapping parts 8 carry pressed out inwardly projecting parts which engage the apertures 7 in the ears of the back plate 1. In either arrangement, the side ears may have recesses pressed in them for receiving the trunnions. In another arrangement, Fig. 8 (not shown), side ears of a back plate are provided with pressed-out trunnion parts for engagement with barrel or socket parts on the lever, which latter is provided with external ears which overlie the side ears of the back plate. The invention is applicable to lever grips embodied in buckles and to lever buckles.
