Abstract

747,753. Pivoted or flexible jaw clamps. WALKER, Ltd., T. Oct. 25, 1954 [Jan. 16, 1954], No. 1355/54. Class 44. In a fastening device of the kind comprising two jaws 1, 8, tending to spring apart, but adapted to be closed towards one another to grip wearing apparel, at least one of the jaws has a protective covering 10 of rubber or other material. The covering 10 is secured by a metal clamping band 11. The device shown, comprises ears 5 formed on the jaw 1, which provide a pivot for a lever 6, having an inturned end 6a which is adapted to act on the jaw 8. The latter is resilient, and has a lug 8a which engages a slot 4 in a flange 3 of the jaw 1, and lugs 8b which engage the upper edges of the ears 5. In a modification, a single piece of sheet metal is bent over to form the two jaws 1 and 8.
