Abstract

1475977 Pliers G YGFORS 20 Feb 1976 [25 Feb 1975] 06871/76 Heading B4W Pliers of plastics material have jaws 1, 3 formed so that on closure they abut at the outer extremities first and on application of increased clamping pressure to the handles they abut progressively till shoulders 12, 13 on the handles abut each other, at which point engagement of the jaws is substantially complete. The jaws may have metallic gripping elements (16 ... 19, Figs. 5-8, not shown) secured thereto, e.g. by heat and by edge portions bent round the edges of the jaws, the elements being shaped for picking up particular components. A resilient strip of plastics (8, Fig. 1, not shown) interconnects the outer ends of the handles to bias the handles and jaws apart.
