Abstract

792,837. Clips. WALKER. Ltd.. T. June 7. 1856. [June 16, 1955],.No. 17339/55. Class 44 Relates to clips of the kind comprising two jaws 2 and 9 normally tending, to spring apart but adapted to be closed towards one another so as to grip material of wearing apparel between them, by means of a lever 5 pivotally mounted on one of the jaws. According to the invention, a gripping member 13 or 18 is carried by each jaw, the member 13 on one jaw 9 having a spigot or projecting -part 17 which is opposed to a socket or recess 22 provided on the other gripping member 18, the projecting part 17 being adapted, when the jaws are closed, to co-operate with the recess 22 to press wearing apparel material in engagement with the latter. As shown, the gripping members which are formed from a thermoplastic or other suitable material are provided with shank portions 14 and 20 respectively which are secured in holes in the jaws by heating and bending-over. In a modification, Figs. 6 to 8 (not shown), the gripping members are secured in the holes by a rivet and an eyelet respectively. The clip is provided with a wire loop 7 by which it may be attached to a brace end for trousers or to a stocking suspender.
