Abstract
815,831. Valves. SPERRYN & CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1957 [Sept. 21, 1956], No. 28882/56. Class 135. In a cock or valve having a closure member actuated by rotation of a spindle 10 in a cover or bonnet 11 detachably secured to the valve body, the spindle is rotatably positioned in the cover by an annular collar 18 on the spindle fitting between an internal shoulder 19 in the cover and a washer 21 rotatable on the spindle and having two or more angularly spaced radially projecting segmental lugs 22 which are adapted to be entered into an annular recess 23 in the cover by inserting them through complementary segmental notches 24 in the end wall of the recess remote from the shoulder in the cover and partially rotating the washer to take the lugs into the recess between the notches. The washer is retained by deforming the end portions of the notched wall at 26.
