Abstract

813,464. Insulating bushings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. July 8, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22258/56. Class 36. A bushing assembly 4 comprises a hollow insulating bushing 5 open at one end and closed at the other about a conductor which extends through the closed end and is continued through the bushing within an insulating tube 21 spaced from the internal peripheral surface of the bushing. The assembly may be mounted through a side wall 3 of a transformer tank so that the closed end of the bushing lies within the tank and the open end lies in a disconnection chamber 6 which is detachably secured to the wall 3. A bushing assembly 9 terminating in an output cable 10 is sealed through the chamber 6. The transformer output windings are connected to conductor 14 which is detachably connected to a flexible conductor 18, the other end of which is detachably connected within a corona shield 19 to conductor 20 in assembly 9. The conductor 18 lies within the tube 21 which is removable. Covers 22, 23 give access to the chamber 6 to enable the tube 21 to be removed and the conductor 18 disconnected.
