Abstract
835,406. Insulators. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. July 13, 1956 [July 13, 1955], No. 20335/55. Class 36. [Also in Group XXXV] A high-voltage bushing comprises an outer insulating sleeve 3 mounted on or integral with an insulating wall of an equipment casing 1 and supporting at its outer end 5 an inner conducting sleeve 6 through which conductors 11<SP>1</SP> may pass, there being an annular gap between the inner and outer sleeves which communicates with the interior of the casing and is filled with the insulating liquid 2 contained therein. The wall of the casing 1 or part thereof may be of insulating material. The conductors may be sealed into the inner tube by glass-to-metal seals 121 and the sleeve may be used as an additional conductor if provided with a terminal 12. The casing may house a transformer and be provided with a liquid lock to keep the bushing filled with liquid especially when the casing is mounted to tilt. The casing may be rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis the bushing being mounted on this axis.
