Abstract

754,175. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 20, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 21139/54. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVI] In a machine with a terminal bushing extending through the wall of a sealed casing within which gas is circulated some of the gas is branched off to cool by direct contact a conducting terminal member within the bushing but extending outside the casing. As shown, the terminal bushing consisting mainly of porcelain insulators 25, 27 with an intervening metal bushing 26 containing the conducting sleeve 23 connected to the end windings by metal tubes 18, 46 and 14 which also serve to supply cooling gas to the space between sleeve 23 and an inner tube 33 which returns the gas to the machine interior by way of duct 37. Specifications 725,211 and 727,110 are referred to.
