811,023. Piston packing. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. March 12, 1957 [March 19, 1956], No. 8157/57. Class 122 (1). Piston packing housed in an annular groove 20 in the piston 10 comprises a metal cap jointed piston ring 14 and a rectangular section rubber ring 16 in sealing contact with the inner periphery of the piston ring and having an internal diameter greater than the diameter of the groove 20 and a width less than that of the groove but greater than half the width of the piston ring. The piston ring is step cut at the joint 18 so that the width A plus B at the joint is equal to or greater than the width C of the ring.
