Abstract

810,612. Centrifugal governors. SATZGER, E. July 6, 1956 [July 12, 1955], No. 20975/56. Class 57. In a centrifugal governor, particularly for internal combustion engines with fuel injection, arranged on the end of a shaft, such as the injection pump shaft 2, and having its flyweights 9 driven through a flexible coupling, the weight carrier 8 is freely mounted on a sleeve 7 that is connected at one end to the shaft end and has at its other end a driver 11 which is detachable from the shaft end independently of the sleeve and is coupled to the carrier through resilient means, such as rubber members 12. The sleeve 7 is secured to the coned end of the shaft 2 by a nut 6 and the driver 11, which is rotatably locked to the sleeve 7 by a pin 29, has a part 21 extending into the sleeve 7 and secured to the nut 6 by a screw 23. The rubber members 12 are compressed against cheeks 14 of the carrier 8 and have arcuate surfaces engaging concave recesses 13 in the driver 11, the radius of curvature of the recesses exceeding that of the members. The carrier 8 is held in engagement with a face 18 of the driver 11 by a spring 17 bearing on a collar 10 on the sleeve 7. A pin 25 extending through axial slots 26 and 27 formed in the part 21 and in the sleeve 7 respectively connects the weight arms 24 to the governor sleeve 20. The sleeve 7 is coned at its free end and engages a coned recess 28 in the driver 11. In a modification, the rubber members 12 are replaced by leaf springs extending between the cheeks 14 and bearing against flat surfaces on the driver 11.
