Abstract

809,153. Contacting liquids with gases. A.P.V. CO. Ltd. Aug. 4, 1955 [Aug. 6, 1954], No. 22988/54. Class 55 (2). A section for a bubble-plate assembly comprises an open-ended element 8<SP>1</SP> of channel section, a plate 10 having upstanding flanges 11 and a perforated plate 12, the whole being secured together by bolts 17 and formed integrally with a liquid seal device consisting of a weir 14 (Fig. 4), a dip pipe 15 and a well 16. In use a series of assemblies are mounted in a column, the sections for each assembly being arranged in spaced parallel relationship and a hood element 18 (Fig. 4) secured over the flanges of adjacent sections to direct rising gas or vapour into the space 9 below liquid supported on the plate 12. The open-ended channel 8 formed between the element 8<SP>1</SP> and the plate 10 conveys liquid overflowing via weir 14 into the well 16 to the annular trough 20 (Fig. 3) of the assembly below from which it discharges into the perforated plates.
