1279870 Contacting gases with liquids CHEMOKOMPLEX VEGYIPARI/ GEP-ES BERENDEZES EXPORT-IMPORT VALLALAT 18 July 1969 [25 July 1968] 36406/69 Heading B1R A gas/liquid contact column has bubble trays wherein liquid flows across a tray from a liquid inlet at 22 to a downcomer 24 and gas passes upwardly into the liquid bubble-caps, slits or as shown risers covered with mesh material, each tray having one or as shown two areas adjacent the liquid inlet 22, surrounded by a wall 38 connected one or more pipes 56 with area(s) adjacent the downcomer 24, the liquid seal on the risers within the areas within the wall(s) 38 being lower than the liquid seal on the risers on the rest of the tray whereby the greater density of the liquid outside in relation to liquid inside a wall 38 causes a flow of liquid through the pipe(s) 56 to within the wall(s) 38. In another embodiment the liquid is circulated through a chamber formed between the tray and a lower plate, risers extending through the chamber being provided for the upward passage of gas.
