Abstract

807,161. Reciprocating pumps. BEDFORD, N. S. June 3, 1955, No. 16042/55. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXVI] A pump piston 5 is coupled to an air motor piston 1, the cylinder 2 of which is supplied with pressure air under the control of a valve 13 having operating pistons 24, 25 subjected to the liquid pressure on opposite sides of the piston 5. The liquid supply to the pump cylinder 6 is from a reservoir subjected to the air pressure and is controlled by a valve 18 having operating pistons 26, 27 subjected to the pressure on opposite sides of the piston 5. The movement of the valve 18 is retarded with respect to the valve 13. Collapse of the pump pressure at each end of its stroke allows the liquid supply pressure to reverse the valves 13, 18. Off-seat loaded valves closing at the supply pressure may be connected between lines 7, 8 or 30 and the supply tank. The liquid pressure line 30 may have a by-pass valve to the inlet. The piston rod 1<SP>1</SP> may extend through each end of the cylinder 6. The cylinders may reciprocate on the pistons. The pump supplies a spray nozzle 301 which may be mounted on the moving cylinders.
