Abstract

807,069. Thermionic valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. June 6, 1955 [June 9, 1954], No. 16206/55. Class 39(1). The envelope includes a translucent ceramic member 17 through which the glow of the cathode heater 13 is visible and a getter 18 is mounted close to the member so that vapour from the getter can be deposited on the member and partly or wholly obscures the glow of the heater; thus the diminution or dissappearance of the heater glow gives an indication of the time of getter firing. The translucent ceramic may by Mgz SiO 4 of thickness 0À08 inches. The other ceramic insulating wall parts 4, 5 may also be translucent to determine whether all the getter material has been driven off from them.
