806,627. Hinges and pivots; stays. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 27, 1957 [June 20, 1956], No. 16718/57. Classes 65(1) and 65(2) In an automobile door hinge comprising a hinge strap 30 on the automobile body having two arms 31 which embrace, and are pivoted to, an ear 26 on the hinge strap 22 secured to the door, the strap 22 carries a pivoted slotted check link 35 which projects through an opening in the strap 30 and is engaged by a pin 48 mounted on the strap 30 and passing through the slot 42. The link is of channel shaped cross-section having a base 54 and opposite sides 37. As the door is opened the link slides freely on the pin 48, but on approaching the fully open position a leaf spring 50 abuts the surface 54 and holds the pin in the curved terminal notch 46 of the slot to provide a yieldable stay.
