A method of securing an arm 1 or 2 of a hinge to the thermoplastic side piece 3 or lens frame 4 of a spectacle frame comprises heating part 3 or 4 to a plastic state and embedding the enlarged head(s) 7 of at least one pin 6 therein; the other end(s) of the pin(s) is passed through the arm 1 or 2 and fixed to it either by riveting or by doming over the end(s) of the pin(s) as at 8.
