805,468. Bakers' ovens. TANCRED & LANGLEY Ltd. Aug. 29, 1956 [June 3, 1955], No. 15980/55. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group XIII] In a batch-type baking or drying oven, a flat tray 6 is supported by cross members 5 and guide rails 4 between two air chambers 7 and 8 formed with slots 9 through which hot air is blown on to the upper and lower faces of said tray by a unit 11 which incorporates an air heater and a fan driving the air to the chambers 7 and 8. Air from the baking or drying chamber returns to the unit 11 through an opening 12. The tray 6 may be replaced by a box-like receptacle having an opening coincident with the door 3, Fig. 3 (not shown). Baffles may be disposed at various points in the system, and dampers may be provided to control the air pressure. Steam jets may also be mounted on the door to inject steam over the tray &c. for baking purposes. A slight reciprocating motion may be given to the tray, and the invention is also applicable to multi-deck ovens.
