Abstract
802,891. Ball &c. mills. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 12, 1957 [April 13, 1956], No. 11287/56. Class 59 A ventilated mill 1 in which grinding is effected with the aid of solid media, e.g. metal balls, is provided with a discharge shoot 7 which is offset for an intermediate portion of its length, to form a receptacle 8 which is provided with an inlet pipe 10 for passing air at low pressure through a permeable septum 9 to fluidize the bed of material which forms above it and with depending and upstanding transverse plates 11, 12 respectively. The plate 11 has a plate 11a adjustably, secured thereto. The shoot 7 is connected at its lower end to a conveyer or the like 13. The outlet end of the mill is provided with a perforated tubular extension 3 to which a tubular screen 4 is attached. In operation, worn grinding media which passes through the screen 4 with the ground product will sink through the bed of fluidized material above the septum 9 and will be retained by the latter. The mill may be used for grinding cement clinker
