Abstract

802,308. Lifting cradles. STEVEDORES EQUIPMENT SERVICES CO.. Ltd. April 4. 1957 [Dec. 20,1956], No. 38840/56. Addition to 703,861. Class 78 (4). Stops h for retaining the load on a lifting cradle similar to that of the parent Specification are hinged, to transverse members d near each end of the cradle so that they may hinge into a stowed position resting on the cradle. As illustrated, each stop h terminates in a hooked portion j embracing the transverse member d and the in-use position of the stops h is defined by abutment against transverse members a3. Each runner-like longitudinal of the lifting cradle is formed by spaced members a, a<SP>1</SP> and the ends of the lower members a are upturned at a<SP>2</SP>. The lateral members d are preferably welded roughly in the plane of the upper members a and may be covered by a detachable mesh of wire or interwoven metal strips or cane. Further longitudinals c are braced from the members a, a<SP>1</SP> by lateral members d. Thimbles e embraced by plates f may be provided on the transverse tubes a<SP>3</SP> and gussets k are provided when necessary.
