[Also in Groups XXII and XXV] An axial retaining ring 5 for the needles 2 and cage 4 of a roller bearing consists of a deformable closed ring and is located in a groove 6 formed in the outer race 1, the ring having only a small fraction of its periphery bearing against the bottom of the groove.
