835,389. Roller bearings. SCHAEFFLER, W., and SCHAEFFLER, G., [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER OHG.]. Aug. 5, 1958 [Aug. 6, 1957], No. 25066/58. Class 12 (1). A roller bearing comprises an outer race 1 formed with an annular groove 3 which is engaged by a radially extending projection 5 on a roller cage 4. Annular grooves and corresponding cage projections may be provided at each end of the bearing. In a modification, projections 9, Fig. 2, extend through the windows of the cage and engage an annular groove 8 in a race 7. In another modification, shown in Fig. 3, pins 14 inserted radially through the extended end 13 of a cage 12 engage a groove 15 in an inner race 11. The pins 14 may be used only for the transport of the race with the cage and needles and may be removed when the cage is located axially by discs. In a further modification, a cage 17, Fig. 4, has a large-diameter rim 18 which projects into a groove 19 in an outer race 16. Before assembly, the rim may be inclined as shown at 20.
