Abstract

801,832. Jet propelled aircraft. FIAT SOC. PER AZIONI. Sept. 18, 1956 [Sept. 24, 1955], No. 28522/56. Class 4. A jet propelled aircraft having a single engine mounted in the tail comprises an inner air intake duct supplying air to the engine, longerons substantially radially spaced from the duct and connected thereto, the duct taking up torque stresses and the longerons bending stresses, and outer fairings secured to the longerons. As shown, the intake duct 1 is connected to longerons 3, 4 and a third similar longeron on the far side of the aircraft and not shown, by radial plates 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, and a third similar plate (not shown) respectively, each plate being secured to webs on the longeron and duct. Transverse bulkheads 8, 9, 10 and 11 are connected to the duct and the longerons. Auxiliary apparatus may be stowed in the compartments so formed, and fairings 12, 13 are releasably secured to the longerons for easy access. Four longerons may be used instead of three. A tubular section 14 is fitted on extensions of the longerons which are stayed by gussets 15. A tail section C is attached by sockets 17 fitting studs 16.
